This counter-top blender stands 15” tall, is 7” wide by 8” deep and weighs in at 7 lbs. The package includes the Total Blender Classic Series motor base, which comes in one of three colors (red, black, or white), the famous WildSide Jar, Vented Gripper™ lid, a recipe book and the owner’s manual. The WildSide Container
The five-sided design of the Wildside jar and the single-prong wingtip blade help creates a unique vortex pattern within the container that helps ingredients blend more evenly. Blendtec claims that you will not need a tamper with the Wildside container, but some users have complained that this is not the case, especially with thicker mixtures, like peanut butter.
The 96 oz container is made from a BPA-free co-polyester that can stand up to heavy use. The container has a large handle that is easy to grip and has very clear measurement markings. The Vented Gripper lid fits securely to the top to keep the mess in, has a removable center plug that allows ingredients to be added while blending, and vents to release pressure when blending hot liquids.
Unlike most of the containers included with Vitamix blenders, the WildSide can be used for both wet and dry mixes meaning that you will not need an additional container for grinding nuts, seeds or grains.
Washing the WildSide container is simple too. All that you’ll need to do is fill the container up to about half way with warm water and a drop of dish-washing up liquid, set the motor to a full power setting and the container and blades will clean during the cycle. Just rinse out the soap and let it dry.
The Motor
The motor in the Blendtec Total Blender Classic WildSide is a direct-drive configuration. This means that the shaft of the motor connects directly to the blade shaft so that there is no loss of power. The blade is capable of spinning at a maximum speed of 270 miles per hour or 28,000 revolutions per minute. Blendtec has engineered a hammer effect mode, controlled automatically by the microprocessor, which can detect obstructions and momentarily change the cycle so that the blade can power through the toughest of foods.
In certified testing, this blender has been measured at 3-peak horsepower. This is the maximum recorded horsepower that can be generated by this blender’s motor shaft. The motor itself rated at 1560 watts from 13 amps.
The Controls
This model comes with the Smart Touch Tec-nology™ touchpad controls. The entire surface of the motor base is smooth as are all nine of the buttons. This helps make cleaning up any spills fast and easy, you simply just wipe it off with a wet towel, no need to scrub between gaps. There is one toggle switch on the back side of the motor base for the power.
There are buttons on the base for speed up, speed down, pulse and six pre-programmed settings.

Thanks for the detailed comparison.. Would you recommend to buy new Blendtec Total Blender (still available at Costco) vs. the classic 575? I am torn between the two.
Originally, I was looking at the Vitamix 5200 super package but the sharp blade and large jar made me choose blendtec.. Plus, I want it for smaller servings. I have used a blendtec before and it is very easy to clean. Please let me know your recommendation. The other blendtec models at Costco don’t seem that good. (designer 600 and Pro 750).

I’ve been reading some reviews that were a lot less than perfect, i.e., the quick failure of the rubber on the bottom and inability to insure that the warrant. That worries me; I’m on a fixed income and cannot afford to replace/repair every couple of months. What say you?
All jars included in the package you purchased are included in original warranty. This would cover any issues for 8 years if you purchase a new model, or 7 years if you purchase a refurbished model.
